Preparing for a built-in appliance installation

A replacement integrated appliance needs to fit both the space and the existing connections. These details help avoid surprises on installation day.

  1. Check the appliance dimensions against the cabinet opening and the manufacturer’s installation instructions.
  2. Tell us the old and new model numbers. Integrated fridge hinges and furniture-door fixings are not universal.
  3. Mention any required door reversal, cabinet adjustment, disconnection or old-appliance removal when requesting a quote.
  4. Clear the route to the kitchen and let us know about stairs, lifts and parking restrictions.
  5. Tell us if you need changes to electrics, plumbing, gas or ducting. Those works are assessed separately and may need a specialist.
  6. Old-appliance removal and disposal are not automatically part of fitting. Describe what needs to be taken away; the office confirms whether this can be included and any applicable charges.
  7. An installation request does not reserve a date. Wait for the office to confirm the model, agreed scope and availability before making arrangements that depend on a particular appointment.

These are preparation tips, not instructions to dismantle or repair an appliance. If something is unsafe or difficult to access, leave it for the engineer.
